GWCQP Holds Fourth Conference, The Pioneers of Baytul Maqdis
The Global Women's Coalition for Quds and Palestine held its fourth conference in Istanbul on Thursday, October 19, 2017. It continued throughout the day with the participation of prominent female figures from the Arab and Islamic world.
Among the attendees were Dr. Rawda Kawakji , Vice President of the Justice and Development Party and a representative of the Turkish government, and Nilhan Osmanoglu, the granddaughter of the Ottoman Sultan, Abdul Hamid II.
The conference included a speech by the freed prisoner Ahlam Al-Tamimi, who was unable to attend the conference because her name was included on the wanted list of the International Police (Interpol). During the conference, projects related to supporting the cause of Al-Quds and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people were discussed.
The conference commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an. Professor Fatina Suleiman, Director of the GWCQP, then delivered the opening speech in which she welcomed the participants in the conference. She also thanked the government and people of Turkey for hosting the conference and for their support of the Palestinian cause.
