Global Women’s Coalition for Quds and Palestine Holds Regional Forum in West Africa

On Sunday, July 14, 2024, the Global Women's Coalition for Quds and Palestine held the Women working for Palestine Forum in West Africa, as part of the Pioneers Forum’s activities in Dakar, Senegal. There were 35 pro-Palestinian participants from eight countries in the West African and Maghreb regions: Senegal, Ivory Coast, Niger, Gambia, Togo, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, and Morocco.

The forum included a segment for the women workers in those countries to get acquainted with one another, in addition to several speeches. The most prominent speakers in the forum were Ms. Rabab Awad, Secretary-General of the GWCQP, and Ms. Fatima Al-Maddah, Head of African Action at the GWCQP.

During the forum, an introductory presentation was made about the projects of the GWCQP in support of the Palestinian cause.

The most prominent outputs emanating from the forum were the following: First, the establishment of the Regional Women's Coalition in West Africa, with Ms. Sakina Fal becoming President of the West African Women's Coalition, Dr. Hawa (Nigeria) as her deputy, Ms. Zainab Sy (Ivory Coast) as Secretary-General of the West African Coalition, and Ms. Fatima (Gambia) as First Deputy Secretary-General. Second, the adoption of the GWCQP projects by the countries participating in the forum.

In closing, we commend the support of the Senegalese people and government for Palestine, as well as the positions of both of the President of the Republic of Senegal and his Prime Minister, who have unhesitatingly declared that they are biased towards the Palestinian people in their demand for their rights and call on the Islamic world to take a decisive stance in support of this just cause.
