WGCQP Visits Mauritanian Parliament

On Friday, January 3, the delegation of the Women’s Global Coalition for Quds and Palestine visited the headquarters of the National Assembly (Mauritanian Parliament) as part of their tour around Mauritania. They met with various groups of women parliamentarians from various political parties.

During the visit, the Secretary-General of the Coalition, Ms. Rabab Awad, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of supporting the Palestinian cause and women’s central role in supporting Quds and Palestine, stressing the need for Arab and Islamic solidarity to meet the challenges posed by the occupation.

Dr. Shaimaa Abu Shaaban, the sole survivor of her family, also delivered a poignant speech in which she conveyed the suffering of the Palestinian people. Ms. Samar Sabih, the liberated Palestinian prisoner, addressed the situation of Palestinian women prisoners in occupation prisons and their persistence in the face of violations.

On their part, Mauritanian women parliamentarians from various parties affirmed their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and their unequivocal rejection of all forms of normalization with the occupation, pointing out that the Palestinian cause remains the first cause of the Ummah and that the Mauritanian people from all backgrounds stand with the Palestinian people in their just struggle.

This visit reflects the WGCQP’s desire to strengthen relations with women parliamentarians in Arab and Islamic States, with the aim of supporting the resilience of Palestinian women and highlighting the suffering of the Palestinian people in various forums
